Licensing
To use an existing photograph of mine, in print or online. Priced by use, territory and term.
Editorial
News, magazines, books and educational use. Credit required, and the cheapest of the three.
Commercial
Advertising, packaging, websites selling something. Priced by reach and duration. Model release needed.
Prints
A physical print for a wall. Not a licence at all, but this is where people look for it.
What I need from you
Six answers and I can quote in one reply rather than four.
Which photograph — a link, a filename, or a description.
Territory — one country, or worldwide.
What it is for — editorial, commercial, or a print.
How long — a single run, a year, or in perpetuity.
Where it will appear — the publication, the site, the product.
Deadline — when you need the file by.

Terms worth stating
Copyright stays with me
A licence grants you specified use of the photograph; it does not transfer ownership of it.
Credit
Editorial use carries a credit to Matthew Thompson, placed adjacent to the photograph or in the standard credits panel.
No alterations without asking
Cropping to fit a layout is fine. Compositing, retouching and colour changes need agreement first.
Healthcare images are restricted
Photographs made in clinical settings are licensed case by case, within the consent given at the time.
AI training is not included
No licence permits use of the photographs as training data for machine learning models.
Commissioning something new instead?
